 History :  The Ecclesiastical unit of Bijnor was created as an apostolic exarchate in 1972. The territory of the Dioces was culled out from the Diocese of Meerut. Msgr. Gratian Mundadan CMI was appointed its first apostolic exarch. On February 26, 1977 Bijnor was raised to the status of eparchy and Msgr. Gratian Mundadan CMI was appointed its first Bishop. Diocese of Bijnor consists of most part of the district of Bijnor in U.P. and the districts of Pauri, Tehri, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, part of Haridwar and  Uttarakashi in Uttarakhand.
